Reformer and Wunda Chair Classes

(Our group classes contain a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 people)

1. THE REFORMER: 

There is probably no piece of Pilates equipment more famous than the Pilates reformer.  The reformer makes a dramatic change in the body when you use it. Reformers are lined up in Pilates studios all over the world and classes are usually one of the main choices at Pilates studios. 

These classes are approximately 50-55 minutes long.

The class emphasis is on rhythmic, flowing sets of movements which increase strength, flexibility and stamina while also improving alignment, balance, coordination and tone. The result of the workout is a uniformly developed body with strong back and abdominal muscles. There are countless different movements in the Group Pilates Reformer classes and these are performed seated, standing, on all fours, or lying on your back, side or front.

Pilates Reformer Classes also involves the use of a JumpBoard. This is a fun and entertaining way to incorporate cardiovascular exercise into your Pilates Reformer class routine. The JumpBoard is an excellent non-weight bearing method to increase your heart rate and burn some serious calories while engaging your core.

For safety reasons clients are requested to be there by the time the class starts.

2. THE WUNDA CHAIR

The Pilates chair, also called the Wunda chair, is far from being a newcommer on the block. It has always been a part of any fully equipped Pilates studio, and was created by Joseph Pilates himself. It’s no secret that the very first exercises you learn on the Wunda Chair can be challenging. The small size of this apparatus can leave you and your clients mostly hanging out in space bereft of support.

Exercises on the Pilates Chair:
– Though the basic design is simple, there are a myriad of exercises that can be performed on the Pilates chair. It is excellent for strengthening the core muscles, of course, and also the arms and legs.
– Exercises are done lying, sitting, and standing on the chair, as well as from positions to the sides of the chair.
– Like its name suggests, Wunda chair works wonders. The chair is often used for strength, balance and cardio exercises.
– Gone is the luxury of lying down on the Mat, Reformer or Cadillac.

The Wunda Chair is compact and stylish:
You’ve still got a “mat” area, per se, it is really small…and rarely do you perch on it… Working on the Chair will definitely up your game.

The Wunda Chair has panache:
The Wunda chair looks so unlike the other larger apparatus. It will intrigue and excite you. Especially when you learn how to lift up the pedal with your stomach!
