The Pilates Dynamics Internationally Recognised and Certified Teacher Training Program is lead by founder and director Andriesa Verloop. After opening her first Pilates studio in 2008, Andriesa continues to share her passion for this amazing fitness movement through her Teacher Training. Her success as a trainer and educator is due to her exposure to various different Pilates styles over the years. Andriesa is assisted by a group of senior trainers who have qualifications in Human Movement Science, BSc Physiotherapy, Personal Training and Professional Dance and Ballet with exposure both nationally and internationally.

1. Athletic Reformer Including Jumpboard and Auxiliary Equipment – 2½ hours

This workshop focuses on:
– Exercises that involve greater body integration, strength and flexibility with an element of cardio and a good program flow
– Power Pilates (upper and lower body) with some advanced routines and exercises that includes plyometric movements using the Jumpboard AND auxiliary equipment including Therabands; Poles; Magic Circles; Small Stability Balls; and Weighted balls
– Improve proprioception, balance and reduce injuries.

2. Posture Theory & Application to Pilates Exercises – 3 hour workshop

This workshop focuses on:
– Outlining the importance of postural analysis
– Covering faulty postural types
– Identifying muscle imbalances in static posture
– Practising and reviewing the steps in conducting postural analysis
– Exploring Pilates exercise choice and modifications to accommodate imbalances to restore length and strength in the musculature
– Learning how to locate bony landmarks and palpate structures

3. Pilates for Injuries and Special Population Groups – 22 hour course

The course is divided into 2 sections, the Upper Quadrant (Cervical & Thoracic Spine;  Shoulder Complex; Arm; Elbow & Wrist) & the Lower Quadrant (Lumbar Spine; Hip; Knees; Ankle & Foot).

The workshop focuses on:
– How to use Pilates exercises and principles to help rehabilitate patients from injuries, pathologies and surgeries.
– You will be introduced to commonly encountered injuries and pathologies in each region of the body and we will discuss the Anatomy & Biomechanics; Definitions, Causes, Contributing Factors and Symptoms of each condition.
– The focus of this course will be how we as Pilates Professionals can contribute to our clients’ wellbeing by correctly selecting exercises and at times avoid exercises and ranges of motion.
– You will learn the appropriate application of exercises from the vast Pilates repertoire, as well as others, and how to modify them based on the client’s condition.
– Exercises and modifications will be demonstrated using Matwork; Reformer; Cadillac/Towers; Ladder Barrel/Barrels; and Chair with a variety of small equipment & props.
Date: This workshop will be held over 2 weekends (Friday afternoons & Saturdays) as follows;-
– Friday 12 October 2018 from 13h00 to 17h00 and Saturday 13 October from 9h00 to 16h00; AND
– Friday 26 October 2018 from 13h00 to 17h00 and Saturday 27 October 2018 from 9h00 to 16h00

4. Exam Preparation Workshops – each module is 2 hours

Each of the three modules below are 2 hours long:

5. Pilates and the Foam Roller – 2½ hour workshop

This fun, informative and interactive workshop is designed to identify foam rolling techniques and demonstrate how they can be used to improve overall health and performance. Both fitness and medical professionals will benefit from this course.  The course covers:
-Stability exercises
-Myofascial releases
-Mobility; and
-Strength exercises
-Participants leave with practical knowledge and hands-on experience coaching and cueing movements that can be scaled to all levels of general health and athletic clients, inclusive of foam rolling.

6. Suspension Training (TRX) – 2½ hour workshop

This is a practical workshop which will focus on:

– What is this buzz phrase “Functional Training”?
– What is suspension training?
– Benefits of suspension training
– Assessing the individual before exercising: How to decide if a person is ready for suspension training (incl. contraindications)
– Safe Set Up (practical discussion with the suspension straps)
– Exercise Library: There are basic, intermediate and advanced suspension exercises which includes progressions and regressions (core and with the added element of cardio)

7. Kettlebell Training – 2½ hour workshop

This is a practical workshop which will focus on:

– What is this buzz phrase “Functional Training”?
– What is a kettlebell? And…..What makes a kettlebell different from a dumbbell?
– Characteristics of a Kettlebell Exercise
– Assessing the individual before exercising: How do we decide if a person is ready for kettlebells and what weight to start with (including contraindications).
– Exercise Library: There are basic, intermediate and advanced kettlebell exercises and all can be progressed or regressed as needed.
Date: November – Saturday 17th November 2018 (13h30 to 16h00)
